The discussion so far suggests an interesting possibility: Don Quijote’s sense of justice may be Machiavellian because he may be pretending to care for the well-being of others (it can be argued that he is more interested in obtaining fame and securing a kingdom, and that his sense of justice is only a pretension to obtain his goals). I shall ignore this possibility for two reasons: first, to my knowledge no one has argued that Don Quijote’s sense of justice is Machiavellian, and second, the purpose of this work is not Machiavellianism.
